MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM
Grade 5-8: Developing student voices and exploring student's unique personality
The middle school years are when young minds develop their critical thinking and analytical skills to make strong connections between their knowledge and the world around them.
Middle school students question, debate, explore, invent and engage with more depth. They are ready to take on more rigorous academic challenges and more responsible leadership roles. Yes!School Gymnasium approach guides the students to learn how to navigate and self-advocate as they experience individual growth and maturity as well as it gives a solid in-depth knowledge base. The children, who graduate from Yes!School Middle School Program, are ready and well-prepared for high school.
MIDDLE YEARS CURRICULUM:
- English (literature exploration, analysis, in-depth grammar)
- Math (well-built course that challenges students to build up knowledge along with hans-on experience)
- Science (cool and fun course built shall encourage curiosity, leadership and risk-taking)
- History (by studying past and connecting the present, students will learn to be active thinkers, practice empathy and accepting multiple points oof view)
- French, Spanish, Mandarin (Chinese)
- Team sports
- Music, Drama and Visual Arts
- Wellness Circles and Personal Growth Unique Classes
- Innovation and Technology (computer lab, robotics and coding)
Middle school students love choices! Trying new things and focusing on personal interests are themes that drive personal and after-school time. Our Learning Centre classes help students to explore the passions and hobbies with students: micro biology, experimental chemistry, geography and exploration, particle and astro-physics, creative thinking, woodworking, coding, floor hockey, speech and debate as a part of our Big Boss Academy... the possibilities are endless!
